Subject: fell UP the stairs (duuuuhhhh)

Hello peeps. Okay ... so there I was trudging up the stairs to our flat with some shopping, when suddenly I fell UP the stairs. I have no idea how it happened. Suddenly, there I was in a very undignified position with a bag full of cat food rolling very noisily to the bottom of the flight of stairs. Has anyone else ever felt like a complete NUMPTY because of their RA? (btw ... this was Friday evening and I'm still paying the price for jerking my body like that!)

Oh wait .. I have to add this. I seem to be so clumsy since I've been diagnosed with RA. My feet don't seem to belong to me sometimes. Once I was coming in the front door, mis-stepped and fell sideways - I bounced off the coal bunker and ended up sitting in a large plant pot under the hedge. Honestly, I have never been this clumsy. And don't even get me started on dropping things. LOL

Well im glad someone else has joined my club. I have always been a little clumsy but since having oa it has got a lot worse. Yesterday hubby said can you open back door for me, i obliged and as i walked past the door my toes shot a pain i faltered in my steps and whacked my elbow on the dooor frame funny bone there was nothing funny about it. Hubby was mortified he heard the whack from the next room. I tell you tears well they were a bit hard to fight back.(BECOMING VERY GOOD AT THIS). Then later on i kicked my toes on the skirting board. My feet!!!!!My stairs always trip me up i think they do it on purpose LOL. Dropping things enough said.

Lol i fall up and down stairs and have even been known to fall side ways lol clumsy bugger that i am. I did see a physio some years ago who told be when u have ra your ankles loose their ability to compensate i.e most peple who say stand on a stome have the reflexes /ability to right themselve in ra (and i assume other types of A) i will quote the term he used "you stand on a stone you go down like a bag of sh+t" lol he had a way with wordsm he said you can do excersises to strengthen your ligaments to compensate on a wobble board type device. Sadly he stopped me after i fell off it twice lol

Oh you all have me laughing away here. It's good to be able to laugh about these things. I'm seeing the physio this coming Friday. So hopefully she will be able to give me some advice about the ankle situation. I try to avoid steps wherever possible - but our flat is 1st floor and there is one flight of stairs leading from the front door up to our landing. I think pretty soon it's going to be a chairlift or relocating. I am getting pretty good at climbing the stairs on my backside though. I should write a book on the subject: "The idiots guide to backside climbing". Thank heavens we have a lift at work. There are 4 flights up to my office. By the time I got up there my bum would be BLACK AND BLUE.
