Subject: Valium & vit D replacement
Hi everyone, I've recently been put on calceos tablets for osteopenia. They're chewable chalky very sweet tablets and I'm supposed to take 1 twice a day. When I read the accompanying leaflet it said 'to chew and take with a glass of water...do not take within 2 hrs of food' I checked this with the pharmacist who confirmed that I shouldn't eat 2 hrs before or after taking these, which alongside other medication times is a big nuisance. Does anyone know of any alternative supplements that I can suggest to my GP or do I just need to program reminders for tabs into my phone and never eat between meals again (at least I'll be slim)!

blimey! I'm taking Adcal-D3, which is similar, I think, and there is nothing about not taking within 2 hours of food, just one twice a day.

Adcal-D3, just looked that up, seems very similar in terms of dosages. Thanks, I'll ask if I can swap to that - I can't see me being very compliant with this one. :-)

Hi Julia. I also have osteopenia and take a supplement called Vitabiotics 'Osteocare'. This actually states to take with a main meal. I take two a day. Two tablets gives 800mg calcium and 10 microgram Vitamin D (as D3 400 iu). Aswell as Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Selenium and Boron. My GP doesn't prescribe this for me though but has given his ok on it. Hope this helps :-)...x
