Neck pain.... its a real nightmare. I feel sick with it. I can hear and feel the grinding!

I have had an xray which showed nothing... maybe I should request an MRi?

Seeing my specialist soon... I will have a list as long as my arm at this rate!

I'm with you on this one. That "grinding" noise is enough to make your teeth CURL!! I'm having MRI on Thursday - hoping it will show something.

I had neck pain recently which made me very ill to the point I would lie down and start to panic.

First it would start with a headache across the front of my brow and then for some reason my left arm and leg where the PA is would start to hurt and cause me discomfort in the chest??

I know it sounds wierd but was taken to hospital as suspected viral menigitus however it was all related to neck pain and tension headaches.

The neck has been treated with Diazepam which didnt help and atm i'm seeing a physio to try and release the neck muscles and im in constant sick mode.

Im wondering now if its relate to my PA and not just "neck" pain from sitting and holding my head in certain positions.

Hey Tinkpink

I get the grinding and creaking and immense pain in my neck too. I can hardly move my head and get terrible headaches too. However, it's all caused by the PA in my shoulders. As the swelling increases in the shoulders, the muscles tense up until the top of my back is solid. I then get clicking, cracking and grinding in my shoulders and neck every time I attempt to move. I've found that boots own brand tension headache tablets are really good as they contain a muscle relaxant. However, they don't have too much codeine in them so compared to co-codamol they are a little tame.

Hope that helps.

I have OA in my shoulder and back and have been told because i hold myself in weird and wonderful positions to avoid using my shoulder,i am causing this neck problem, creaks cracks for all to hear LOL. (what was that) oh just my neck. If you can try to relax your shoulders let your arms just hang. Sounds a bit odd i know but i find it does help somewhat. The headaches are tension so ive been told. (thats not what i call them) Hope all the tips on here help!

LOL Mads. That's exactly like me. In fact, next time I go to my rheumy I'm going to say: "Let me tell you where I'm NOT hurting to save a considerable amount of time".
