Hey all. Any helpful hints for how to control swelling ankles. I work full-time and they have been driving me crazy the last couple of days.

The only thing that will help swelling of the lower extremities (ie ankles, legs, feet) is to lift your legs up above the heart level, ie sit on a chair & put your feet up on something in front of you that will raise your feet above the level of your heart. Most times it's a circulation problem so maybe next time you see your doctor ask.

HI Gaynor, This happened to me last week. Only my right ankle, and swelled up quite alarmingly. As MAZ said.. raise them up... if you can, whenever you get the opportunity. Maybe up your meds.. my Rheumy nurse told me to go up to 30mg to suppress it. Good Luck my lovely. I hope it subsides soon. Tink x

Thanks for hints. Like you TinkPink it's only 1 ankle and it swells up badly (goes rock hard). Maz, I can only raise my leg when I get home. Else I would be seeing clients lying on the floor of my office with my feet on a chair. I know psychologists are supposed to be a bit eccentric - but that might be pushing it just a tad. LOL. So I'll try the foot raising thing at home.

Ha ha ... yeah ... I could start "alternative reclining therapy". Come in ... lay down. Urm .. no that just sounds WRONG on so many levels.

I have this mental picture in my head of you on the couch & your clients sitting down ...lol I had this issue some time back & found I could sit & put my leg up on the edge/corner of the desk - that raised it up above my heart level & worked. Maz ps - my daughter is a psychologist so I know what you mean...lol
