Subject: PAIN WITHOUT MOVING?

Hi all. Last night my foot was pulsing, very sore and very painful! VERY! Never had this before. I've only ever had pain when moving it or walking on it. Is this what I have to come? Constant pain without movement? I took a painkiller and fortunately drifted off to sleep. Its the same today.. I've bought some Votarol gel in the hope it may help (fingers crossed) - So I guess my question is: Do you have a pulsing, throbbing, sore pain in your affected joints when resting them? Cheers.

Hi Sandra, It only helps for about 30 mins or so but it does relieve it a bit, I am on a lot of meds for heart condition and angina, so I cant take anti inflams or a lot of other meds, just on coedine phosphate parasetamol, and steroid injections every 4_ 6 weeks. T.C.

I'm in so much pain. I've been lying here crying since 5 and my feet are really swollen. Someone on another forum gave me this link, I'm going to read back through some old threads. Still waiting to see a rheumatologist. I just don't know how I'm going to live with so much pain if it's for the rest of my life.

Go back to your GP and ask for rhumy appointment to be pushed through or phone the hospital appoinments department. Get your GP to give you some good pain killing relief in the mean time. I feel for you and so will all the other girls and guys on here. Bless you hoping you get some help soon. Hang on in there. X

Thanks for the reply Marlene, am feeling really isolated at the moment. Been signed off work for the last 3 weeks, stuck in the house on my own. My GP has given me Tramadol and Indomethacin but they're making me feel really nauseous and woozy. Just wish I could see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Appreciate your kindness anyway x

We all at some time have felt isolated, it is hard for other people to understand, it is difficult for them because they cannot see what is wrong. In time they will understand.Have you got support from family and friends. It would be good to tell them how you feel. Try not to isolate yourself this is so easy to do, puttng on a brave face, saying im fine when people ask how you are, i was even saying this to my GP and Rhumy Dr. Not wanting to be called a moaning minnie. Now I tell them how it is if the pain is too much tell them. The people on here somehow become friends quickly because we understand and want to help one and other.Any time you want a moan or a bit of support you go for it. This forum is a godsend not only for morale support,i was having loads of problems with DLA and worried about filling out forms but the guys on here gave me the push i needed. I am fairly new to this site but i feel like a oldie already. Chin up hang on in there.

You must try all avenues and it often takes ages before you finally get the right treatment. One thing you must must must try is relaxation and if possible massage or acupuncher! Don't dismiss this. It works and is vital. Got online and buy a self-help book to.start. they do wonders! I promise, on my head be it. My foot has calmed down a little now (thank goodness). Votarol gel and enbrel, accompanied by a footspa and relaxation! Hoping to hit the gym tomorrow. Keep pressing on all.

My mum suffers from painful feet and swears by her tens machine. She uses it for 30mins a day and says it really helps her feet and her ability to walk without being in pain and it works better than any painkiller. She paid approx £200 (but you can get them alot cheaper) for her's so their not cheap but it may be worth having a look on ebay?

hello jonny. i feel for you very much. i've been there a few times. i;m 56 and have had RA for 41 years and have had 30 surgeries [joint replacements and removed] etc. one thing i can suggest is being on a anti-inflamatory and a good pain killer that all agree with you. even if you're not in much pain still take these meds to keep inflamation under control. its the inflamation that cause so much pain. i also suggest at least one 30-60 minute nap every day. joints and muscles need rest. your body will tell you when to rest or slow down. there's so much more i could share with you but i'll try not to make this too long. feel free to ask any questions. take care.
