Hi Sandra

I have PsA and have periodic steroid injections. I usually find it takes a couple of days to feel an improvement.

I also find that it is changeable rather than cold weather that effects me.

Hope that helped.

Hi Sandra, just read your comments. I had a steroid injection last Monday and it kicked in about 12 hours later. I felt a lot of relief for 3 days and on the fourth day it wore off, but it was great while it lasted and I would certainly have another one if offered. They say some lucky people find it lasts for a few weeks. I am on mtx, arcoxia and amitriptylene. I take 20mg mtx per week and so far don't feel it is doing too much, but they want me to keep trying for another six months so I will. I hope you get a lot of relief from your injection.

Hi Sandra, glad to hear you are getting some relief and I hope it continues for you. I have been on amitriptylene for 4 years, a year before the pa started. I was given it for the osteoarthritis in my back, it's only a small dose I take in the evening. Some people are given a much higher dose to treat depression. That coupled with the arcoxia does help my back. When I started the mtx six months ago I was told it was ok to take all of the above. You should ask your GP about it. Have another good day tomorrow.

Hi Sandra

I was taking sulphazalazine when I fell pregnant in 2010 but it doesn't have any effect on me so I stopped taking it. I was having to have the fluid removed from the knee every three weeks and was injected with a steroid straight into the joint. I had a couple of steroid shots into my bum too; for me, they last about 3 weeks. I was hoping to go back on anti-tnf after having my baby in September but was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant. This means that I am only allowed to take certain drugs now and started leflunomide 4 weeks ago. I'm waiting for that to work but in the mean time I am struggling with sore joints and the Psoriasis has gone crazy and driving me insane.

I hope you continue to have a good response to the steroid.

Hi Sandra, In answer to your question I have PA and OA. I totally understand the discomfort in bed. I was very lucky, my family clubbed together and managed to get me a Tempur mattress which I find wonderful, don't think I could do without it now, so much so if I am not in my own bed it's just awful. I still move around and disturb my husband too, but I feel comfortable at least. I am not saying it takes away the pains but it does give me a lot of comfort. Hope that makes sense!! I also hope you are still finding relief from the jab.
