Subject: Hydro Therapy

Went to physio to-day. I hate it, i come home in so much pain. As my physio is unable to treat me as the pain is too much i am beig sent to the hydro pool. Does anyone know if this is usefull? Having a bone scan on the 31st march to check if i have RA as well as OA. This will also show if the OA has spread to my neck and feet.Feeling low to-night i dont want to hear any more bad news from consultant. Still fighting DLA but i do have a local support group seeing them on 7th April for help to fill out forms in the correct way.I hope this time they may take my mobility in to account.Heres hoping. If any body has any info on hydro pool i would love to hear from you.

marlene Hydro therapy is fantastic. The water is lovely and warm - the Physio's are there in the water with you all the time and they don't push you into anything you are not sure of. GO and enjoy it !! There is nothing at all to be anxious of.

I can't do ' dry land ' Physio as well. The only drawback to Hydro is the NHS will only ' allow ' 6 sessions :0( [ where I live anyway ] and I really miss it.

Hi Marlene

Hydrotherapy is amazing! I was admitted to hospital as an inpatient when my hip "went" and needed replacing. I was unable to bear any weight on the leg and couldn't straighten myself up. I had daily hydrotherapy and within two weeks I was able to walk again, albeit with a stick! As KayJay says, it's lovely and warm. The water takes your weight and makes the movements a lot easier. Once I'd been discharged from hospital, I visited a nice quiet local swimming pool and carried on the excercises. I felt stronger in my hip and I think this helped me to recover quickly from the hip replacement.

I hope you get on well. Unfortunately, I think there is a little "no pain, no gain" with physio; I'm sure you'll notice results after a few sessions of hydrotherapy.

Take care
Lou x

Thanks one and all sounds promising. I look forward to it now!!!!! The dry physio its just so painful and leaves me feeling so much worse for the next 3 to 4 days. I have new pains i am trying to deal with hoping hydro will help with this. Once again thanks a lot for advice. Feeling lifted to-day going to lunch with my daughter. Mums gone to her day centre (she lives with me) and my brother popped in just to say hello. Keep smiling Marlene X
