Subject: Anti TNF

Hi everyone, maybe I am being a bit dumb, but after reading articles on anti tnf drugs, are they only used in RA conditions, or are they used in different types of arthritis? I have been on MTX for nearly 6 months and don't feel they have stopped the progression of my PA and as I am due to see the Rheumatologist on Monday I have been researching alternatives. So anti tnf treatment only for RA or for all types of arthritis??? Thank you.

Hi Sandie

I have PA and I was on enbrel for eight years. It wasn't licensed for PA at the time but I have always been query RA so was prescribed it because of that. It is now licensed for PA and psoriasis by itself. My rheumy tells me that it works better for more PA sufferers than RA.

Hope that helps.

Hi Sandie i am injecting Humira anti-tnf. I have RA and AS but i am told it is used for all types of arthritis and Crohn's disease. Its for people who have moderate to serious arthritis and have not been successful on other treatments. Its a long process it took six months for me to get it and its a big decision to make as its a powerful drug. Hope this helps.

Hi Louloubelle and Cathy. Thank you so much for your information and it will help me a lot at my appointment on Monday.
Congratulations Louloubelle on your wonderful news, I have read your posts since the beginning and you are so positive and an inspiration to all. Cathy, as you say it is a big decision to make but my pa took them 2 years to diagnose and my joints are a mess, so it's time I took more charge and addressed the matter with them. As it happens my twin has Crohn's and my father had AS (very badly)and they say my condition and my brothers is hereditary. Thank you both and I hope you have a good weekend. Will keep you informed.
