Subject: Psoriatic Arthritis and mobility
Hi everyone This forum is a mine of information. Thanks! I have PSA and was diagnosed about a year ago. I take Sulfasalazine but I am not getting on with it very well (lots of horrible side effects). I also take naproxen and Tramadol. My pain is in a lot of my joints and I have trouble walking because of bilateral plantar fasciitis and hip and knee pain. I have a lot of trouble with stairs too. I am going to London next week and I am anxious about having to walk around. Does anyone have any tips? Would a walking stick help me? I haven't had any OT or physio support yet, just rheumatology appointments which feel rushed. Is there a Facebook group I could join? I go on there a lot. best wishes

I'm very similar to you it seems in terms of knee and hip pain. The thing I find difficult about getting around London is the changing between tubes, they are often long walks and without escalators. My tip for you would be to try and plan any journeys on the tube carefully and avoid changing where possible. Good Luck

hi Tom Thanks for your response and sorry about your arthritis. I took your advice and looked at the tube stations I need to use online. None of them have stair free access so I may need to get a taxi if its a bad day. I also need to change trains. best wishes

hi Sandra Its good to hear from a fellow sufferer. Good luck with your next Rheumatology appointment. The pain is bad but the mobillity problems really bother me. I am going to London for a week on business but will have to walk daily from my hotel to the venue I am working at which is further than I normally walk. I think next time I go to Rheumatology I will ask about help for mobility problems. I was fitted for some orthotics and they examined my feet. They said to walk less to let the Plantar fasciitis recover but I don't walk much as it is! take care
