Subject: Foot op's

Hi Guys,

Need a bit of advice here, I've had 5 operations on my left foot 5th toe was then amputated and the year later the 4th tow needed to be corrected. Now 6 months after the op the 4th toe has bent back round again (looks like its on its side when I stand ) It's causing me a hell of a lot of pain and I don't really know what to do now! I've been told I can get a screw put in the toe to try and keep it straight or I can get another one amputated. I don't really fancy either of them tbh but i'm past the stage of trying insoles etc.... This will be my 6th operation on this foot if I decide to go ahead with it. Is there any other options I can try and is it worth maybe getting a second opinion? Im totally down in the dumps about it all! Im only 22 and have a cupboard full of amazing shoes I cant wear :-(!! lol x

hi Amy, what a rotten decision to have to make. I would be tempted to have the screw option and then, if that doesn't work, go for the amputation. But it can't do any harm to get a second opinion - I would try and get to see someone at the top of their field if you are not already. Especially because of your age.
Good luck. Take care.

Hi hon my worry would be if you had that one amputated would the next toe go the same way. The reality is the more toes you loose the less stable you can become on that foot. I would be tempted to follow what bsk has advised x.

Thanks for everyones replies, that's the worry that i've got. If I get another one taken away and they all start just going the same way. I've had screws before and I'm not too keen on going that way again but think that's my best bet before I decide to get another one taken off. x
