i am so p***ed of with the doctors and my gp who is normally fantastic. i went to the rheumy last week who gave me a steroid shot in my knee and said she tried to remove fluid from my baker cysts well she didn't get any and the shot isn't working. well i called my gp and asked for advice regarding where the nddle would go into drain the cyst and he said she did it right and that he doesn't want to go in to the cyst at the back of my knee as this can cause leaking into my calf and more pain. so now i have been told i have to live with it, which is very painful and causing me to use crutches. arrrr sorry to rant.x

Your doc is right about the cyst hon a ruptured bakers cyst can cause similar symptoms to a dvt i.e redness swelling etc doesnt really help you tho xx

hi davina its emma, your doctor has got it wrong had my baker cyst drained as it was leaking into my calf had both cysts done at the back of my knee which first of all thought i might have dvt which they scanned me for. due back to rheumy soon as knee still not right in calf but so much better.i think you might have to complain and see what happens. em x

To be fair davina the best people to deal with these issues are your rheumy doc these are the experts many people dont realise your gp will claim money from your pct to inject joints etc so whilst not all gps will try to do this themselves some will as there is financial incentives gps whilst many are great are a bit "jack of all trades" not specialists

Hey everyone. I've just been diagnosed and I have to agree with all of you. I've been passed from pillar to post - and it's well annoying. I've been disabled since age 12 so I'm kinda used to pain. But this rheumy stuff adds a whole new layer. I work full time. I'm getting to the stage of wanting to stamp my feet and yell: "I'M NOT INTERESTED IN YOU BEING VAGUE ... JUST DO SOMETHING DAMMIT".
