Yes Peter I would I think ra can make the eyes dry . A qualified Optician would be able to see any problems with the eyes and then send you to the Hospital if neccesary.

What drops have you been using Peter? Some of the over the counter ones are not suitable. I have been prescribed liquid gel tears and hypomellose for my dry eyes. I use them as and when and they make a difference straight away. You can get them on prescription.

hi, i have been using the hypomellose drops and they are making my eyes worse as they feel sorer than before so i have stopped using them, i do find that when my jaw feels worse my eyes are not so good also, my consultant says i am a very awkward case to deal with as i had juvenile ra and as i have got older he says it has progressed into a number of different types of arthritis, thanks again for your help, pete

I was recommended several other things too, I will see if I can find the paperwork and tell you what they were. I saw a specialist at the hospital when I was in-patient.

This is being discussed on another forum that I read. Viscotears seems to work well, better than Hypermellose from what I have read. Its a gel so it stays there for longer.

Viscotears is no good for contact lens wearers though!

Hi pete gritty eyes can also be a sign of infeection might be worth checking that you dont have conjunctivitis dry eyes can make you.more prone as your tears or lack of them dont wash bacteria away like " normal " eyes / tears do x
