lol i have the same problem as you, how long u been on them?
i also want a baby but indecisive about taking other meds or staying on them till it is under control but also i have to be off meth for 6 months before trying to conceive, so should i stop them now and deal with it?
OR get better then come off the meds and get worse while waiting to conceive, such a hard decision, hopefully my rheumy can help me with it.

i hope you get your relieve too soon.
thanks Emma

hi cookie was you on any meds before you got pregers or did u stop all meds?
my RA started promptly after i had my son june 2009 and not stopped since.

Emma its your choice if you want a baby sooo much you need to be firm and tell him that when you come off methotrexate your properly going to flare
anyway so you can decide to just try something else or just go on to prednisolone steroid until you are preggers.

good luck/ take care xx

Hi davina was on. Sulphersalazine and anti inflamatories prior to. Both my girls ok 4 3 months after then came back with avengance both times i have heard of ladies who have had ra prior to being preggie but have gone into remission following no such luck for me. I did make sure as soon as i found out i was expection that i went onto prescribed folic acid at a higher dose than the ones you can buy over the counter as sulphersalazine lowers your folic acid

Hi emma every-things ok i had a steroid injection in my knee which hurt and still is very much
i was given a new drug called salazopyrin en, with the methotrexate and plaquenil.

i didn't have my normal rheumy but her assistant who didn't understand what i was asking or what she was doing it seemed. she gave a local injection and then the steriod and tryed to remove some fluid from the top of my knee but the fluid is behind my knee?

don't get her.

hi emma i do have baker cysts and the doctor didn't listen to me when i said about draining from the back and not the front.

its done nothing at the mo so we will see if it helps. so are you on the same drugs as me all 3?

she said i wouldn't notice any change for 6 weeks, see i said she was useless.

hi emma yes i am on all the same accept i have codeine also when needed. wow i didn't realise injections where next i don't like the sound of that!
i am using crutches due to the cysts i also have soft tissue oedema and a tilt of my knee cap on the right knee so the crutches do help take a bit of pressure off, do you have problems walking also?

wow its so great to know someone who is going through the same thing at the same time.t/c davina.x

hi emma yeah i hope we will both be well this year but i want another child in the next year or bit so i may come off methotrexate in may so i can conceive in nov/dec time.

may i ask how old you are?

Can i ask when you have had steroid injections before has that joint swelled and been painful 24hrs after? Mine is swollen really bad and very sore. rang doctor and he said it maybe because she didn't drain the cysts?

I have decided if i get her again i will ask for some that knows what they are doing. ;-( lol

hi emma yes i have one son, his 20 months now and i'm 30.having him was what started my RA. my next appointment with the rheumy nurse is May but going to see my gp next week about knees being drained as they are sore and really bad.
well make sure you say to him that having a baby is important to you and at 38 (sorry to sound oldist) you don't have a long time about 5-10 years to have the children you want. (Sorry)

well now i have said that i will go, hopefully i haven't upset you. xx t/c davina

I started. With my ra at 27 had my first baby at 35 and my second at 40 nearly 41 fell pregnant straight away with both whilst on sulphersalazine and nsai 's but if children are important to you dont let your consultant talk you into putting it off tell him thats your planthat you want meds that will not effect an unborn baby and remember your illness is likely to ease significantly whilst pregnant it may also go into remission following. I have heard that methotrexate can take upto 6 months to clear out of your system anyway good luc
