Subject: accupuncture

has anybody tried this for their arthritis and if so has it worked for you? I was talking to someone the other day whos wife had it done for hers and had 2 years relief! Any feed back would be much appreciated.
Also, a friend of mine gave me some 'greek island labs joint mud' to try, which has lots of organic herbs in and heats up when you put it on. Ive tried it once and it did give a bit of instant relief to my sore joints....just thought id share incase it could help anyone else a bit too x

haha, that is my remedy too! I seriously find if i havnt had a joint my muscles, especially my jaw ones, tighten up and start to really hurt. As soon as i have a smoke i feel them instantly loosen!
I studied a little bit about accupuncture whilst doing massage courses at college and the thinking behind it kind of makes sense, in theory! Id just like someone who has tried it to tell me it works so i could have a little more belief in it! X

Had the acupunture years ago for OA of the spine given to me by the Chiroprator guy - and it bloody hurt !! He was a 6 ft odd ex Rugby playing guy so don't know if he was too heavy handed and it didn't make any difference to my OA pain. The actual Chiro stuff helped me though made me less stiff.

my fiancee had it for a broken and fused ankle and it helped with his pain, but my mum had it for whiplash in her shoulder and it didnt help her much. I think its like everything, it works for some and not for others. Daniel let me know if you try it how you get on x

I have severe arthritis = a replacement shoulder and a knee. Hands, wrists etc are effected. I had a course of accupuncture about three years ago, at the time my pain decreased but returned very quickly. However it is a painless procedure and relaxing so you have nothing to lose by trying it.

I am a physio who practises acupuncture..... and was diagnosed with RA in july.
definitely give acupuncture a go, it works!
I've used it very successfully (in my days pre-RA) to treat arthritic and post-fracture pain, and have also had acupuncture to treat my current shoulder and hand pain.

It often takes 6 treatments to get a more substantial effect and this can then be maintained with more infrequent sessions.
It definitely promotes relaxation and people usually report sleeping like a log afterwards! If you can be referred to NHS physio, lots of them are trained in acupuncture and it'll be free :)
dont expect instant miraculous relief, be patient, but i can highly highly reccomend it....and it shouldnt hurt
good luck
