Subject: paying for perscriptions
my husband has just found out he has pa,and all this is new to us.Neither of us been really ill before so are not very well educated when it comes to the nhs and what we should and shouldnt be paying for. He works full time so we dont claim any benefits, can anyone help re should we be paying for methatrexate etc?

Hi Rachel, If you live in England then unfortunately yes, we have to pay for our meds :( The best thing i advise to do is look at getting your husband a medical prescription card for the year, they cost £104 per year at the mo, it saves money for a start depending how many meds he's on and just makes life so much easier by not having to think about paying out each month Hope this helps :)

Hi, If the only prescription you have to get is Methotrexate then get it on private prescription approx £4. Word of warning though go to a small local chemist to get unbranded tablets (eg if you buy Neurofen it is more expensive than Ibuprofin, same thing though) Branded Methotrexate is very expensive!!
