Subject: feeling rundown

i was diagnosed with rhematoid arthritis in october 2010 i have taken sulfazine tablets for the last 9 weeks. i was told by my gp that they would start to make me feel better after 12 weeks or so.i know that they are slow acting and take a while to get into your system. my question is do you always feel like your rundown and under the weather all the time even on these tablets or does this get better in time any advice would be helpfull

hi

i too was diagnosed in october 2010 with rheumatoid arthritis and was put on sulpha too,i took them for over 2months and they were starting to work but had to stop them due to liver problems (not caused by the sulpha) i felt more run down while on the tablets and feel so much better since ive had to come off them but we are all different and they work differently in each person.

my rheumy nurse say they allow upto 6months for sulpha and if it doesnt work after that time they either change your meds or give you a combination.

i also had quite a bad rash while on it which has cleared up since but had no other side effects,i didnt really notice it was working until i stopped it,it didnt help with the pain but the rheumy said it wouldnt just the stiffness and inflammation, hope this helps

hi alan. i've had RA 4 41 yrs. it takes awhile 2 find a medication that works. whe your doc finds one that works 4 u it does take at least 6 weeks. i've been on many meds 4 RA and the only 1 that i no about that works quick [4 me anyway] is called prednisone, i feel it's a very good anti-inflammatory but can have side effects like all RA meds. 1 thing i had 2 learn with having RA is having alot of patience. many RA patients have 2 take a "cocktail" [more than 1 ra med at once] 2 find some relief. all ra patients r different. when 1st diagnosed, it takes months 2 find the right cocktail that works 4 u. sooner or later your doc will find 1 4 u. with meds 4 ra it's all by trial and error b4 the right 1 is found that's right 4 u. take care and feel free 2 ask any question u like. dolly
