Andy,I was sceptical about your praise for the Peter Trann article, rather than condemn the article out of hand I read it and actually agreed with the conclusions based upon my own experience with my Osteoarthritis which I have managed and mitigated its effects over the last 15 years.I shall now have to include how the inadvertent removal of white bread and flour from my diet has possibly contributed to my own dramatic improvement, although my absolute belief is that most people will look for an outside or third party cause of their Arthritis rather than take responsibility themselves for diet, weight loss, and lifestyle choices, as in society in general its easier to blame someone or something else.

Hi John. I read the white flour as well as the free radicals articles a couple of weeks ago. Since then i have been excluding bread and any food containing white flour and other stuff from my diet and i must say i feel much better generally and my arthritis(both Osteo and Rheumatoid) have massively improved. Has anyone actually bought his book and what do they think? I am tempted to get one myself. It sounds very good from his website but it would be useful to hear it from someone who has read it before committing myself, not that it costs a lot. I am just so sick of being restricted with my arthritis. Maybe this could provide a relief after all. After 15 years coping well with it yourself i would be interested to hear your personal advice? Cheers.

Andy, I bought the book on osteoarthritis by PT a few weeks ago. It is a very interesting book with very detailed information re. the right foods to eat, what foods you must avoid, what supplements to take and detoxing techniques and deep breathing exercise.etc. There are a lot of useful information about the causes of arthritis and how to counteract them. Is it as good as its made out to be? I had doubts before buying it but I am pleased to say Yes it is! My OA is vastly better compared to a few weeks ago and still improving. Best wishes.Chris.

Hi Andy I note Chris Nolan has given you a positive review of P T book so could be some substance in what he is writing,my one reservation is the use of the word cure as PT himself confirms there is no known cure for a Arthritis I prefer the word controlled.I endured an enforced 3 year sabbatical as a result of a car accident 15 years ago during that time I read and researched non stop as I became more and more determined not to be like the Arthritis sufferers I met in the hospital and physiotherapy during my recovery who lived a life entirely dictated by their condition.
I sought out the alternative views on Arthritis and how to manage and control it through natural means, like diet increasing my consumption of foods thought to be good for Arthritis, eliminating toxins from my diet, losing weight, greatly increasing my consumption of water, then switching to ionised water, and using some selective natural supplements
with the result that despite having chronic Osteoarthritis in both knees I walk without limits
(walked our new collie Kellie)5 miles + this morning, play golf in season( I live in a very wet part of Scotland) The actions I take to achieve this are very simple.Manage my weight,Exercise every day,Eat selectively enjoying a good variety of food, making sure I eat the foods that are cartilage assisting,Drink lots of water (remembering I am almost 60 that in itself can be challenging)And take my supplements every day.(over the years I have learned lessons on the importance of these supplements during inadvertent lapses during holidays in far off places)And one other(totally unrelated until now possibly)fact I have never eaten anything other than brown/wholemeal/seeded bread for the last 20 years except on very rare occasions.I have always kept it simple and tried not to be beguiled by fads and false hopes and promises.

I think we need to clarify the types of Arthritis that people get. I have both Osteo and Inflammatory. With Osteo the doctors will always advise weight loss - makes sense really as there will not be as much weight on the joints. However inflammatory / Rheumatoid etc is a very different story !! To me [ having had both ] the inflammatory arthritis affects my lifestyle much more. ie went for Xmas Dinner to my Daughter's and that night I could hardly move and Boxing day I was just laid up all day. I felt stiff as a board and sooo tired. So it's not just the pain with inflammatory it's also the all over the body stiffness and being tired beyond ' normal ' tired. I also accept that any pain is awful so no matter what the tag is it's still pain at the end of the day.

KayJay, I am by no means an expert on any type of Arthritis although I will claim to be well read on both Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid/Inflammatory Arthritis and many of the articles I have read over the years believe there is a definite link between certain foods and increased/raised levels of inflammation in an individuals Arthritis,If I shall get sufficient time to look in my reference list and get the authors name and date of the articles to allow you to read it and draw your own conclusions,I firmly believe that like some people being allergic to some foods and medications its just as likely that an individual area's in the body can react to food(s)with increased inflammation being the result, perhaps if you have not yet tried you might reduce or remove foods or drink that from memory might have coincided with these times of increased pain, suggested sincerely and humbly.

Hi John afraid I couldn't do that without medical advice as I'm Diabetic as well and I eat as healthily as I can anyway due to Diabetes.

Hi John, Thanks for your advice. I think what you say makes a lot of sense. By the way I have purchased the ebook on osteoarthritis by PT. It contains all what you have said and more. PT recommended brown rice rather than brown bread which he said contained Yeast and Gluttin (possibly preservatives also)which could also increase pain levels. I am starting to practise the advice and hopefully my OA will be much improved. Happy new year John. Andy

Hi Andy may I wish you a Happy New Year and hope for a very positive conclusion to whatever information you gain from the book, in fact lets hope for a pain free conclusion.I know from my own experience you must make the commitment to yourself, there were some actions I found more difficult than others but I found accepting the "habit patterns of thought" concept as undeniable made conscious changes easier,if you make the conscious effort to alter some action/behaviour/exercise/eating practice, for at least 21 days it then becomes a habit and you do the action whatever its is automatically changing the former "bad habit" I had to MAKE the effort as you know human nature being what it is we always want the easiest way, take a pill or a magic potion which we hope will save us the effort.I just finally made the commitment to myself and it paid off after my years of accepting my increasing Arthritic restrictions. So here's to a great New Year for you. And a Happy New Year to Everyone.
