Subject: 17 year old sufferer
Ive been suffering from arthritis for a few years now, but at the moment in particular i feel disgusting. I just feel as if im never going to find a partner e.t.c because no ones going to want me and my medical problems..
I feel ugly and horrible and just run down.. i'm trying to deal with college and work and i just dont feel like i can do it anymore.
I'd just like to know if anyones been through a similar situation and if you have any advice, thanks.

Hey Sarah, Keep ya chin up :) it's gets us all down now and again but this forum is the place be cos people can relate to how u feel n help :) I'm only 24 n was diagnosed early this year so I understand how hard n frustrating it is sometimes!! Having RA has turned me into Jekyll n Hyde somedays lol!! What arthritis is it that u suffer from?

Hi Sarah, Its sounds like you have got RA which I had for a number of years myself. I have recenty bought a very good book written by a medical researcher who cured himself of arthritis. The book explains in details the causes and how you can treat them with your diet, detoxing techniques and supplements. My RA disappeared within 3 weeks following the guidance in the book. hi sarah. just wondering what type of arthritis u have. if it's RA [rheumatoid arthritis] that is the type that rheumatologists have told me is not cureable. there is many helpful medications out there for RA which your doctor will manage for you. your doc can also help you with physical and occupational therapists. as for your college can u take your classes by "correspondence-at home" i've had RA for over 40 years. feel free to ask any questions. take care now. dolly

Thats not a good advice at all for a young person. Just dont listen to dolly whoever she is Sarah. Its obvious to see that If you do, you will have RA for the next 40 years or more just like her. Not a good prospect to look forward to, "not curable" is a defeated and not a very clever concept to employ to say the least. You are far too young to listen to someone who is obviously set in their way with a limited mind for all her life like that and not surprisingly shes had ra for the last 40 odd years and likely to have to endure it for the rest of her life. Try and search for an alternataive cure which many people say is possible. There is nothing for you to lose doing that.At the very least it will improve things for you and make your RA much more bearable and with a bit of luck you may even get rid of it. Good luck.

hey SAM whoever you are. you are one of those ignorant ones that try to mislead RA patients that they can be cured. as of now there is NO CURE. if RA is caught early enough it can be put into remission with medications that work for you. yes a good diet and lifestyle is beneficial. i've never insinuated otherwise. you obviously don't have a clue when it comes to someone with RA. i was not suggesting anything negative. nobody's RA is the same as the next RA patient. everyone with RA will take RAmeds but not all the meds work for all RA patients. everyone is different. the doctor will manage all the meds and decide what works for whoever. so who are you to tell someone tonot take advice from anyone. i make suggestions, i don't say don't do this or that. hi all, havnt been on for awhile due to one thing and another! how dare you Sam say that RA is cureable! ive had it for 35yrs and have tried all kinds of things to relieve myself of the pain im going through.If it was as simple as taking certain natural products dont you think the specialist would get all patients taking these to save the health services thousands of pounds or (euros in my case as i live in Ireland) get off the forum!!!!! hate people like you mantaining its all in our head and we want to be in pain.

i am 16 and have had RA for about 2 years and i completely understand how you feel, though i have come to realise that it is not true, because if a partner is worth being with they will not see RA as any reason not to be with you. My friends have helped me through and they have been a great support to me, i just think that RA is a part of me and has made me who i am. hope i have helped :)

Hey there, I was 11 months old when I was diagnosed with arthritis so know how you feel growing up and going through teenage years with it. Mine went into remission for a while and then took a nose dive when I was 14. I have found that there are people out there who will love you and your arthritis. My bloke tells me he considered things carefully before commiting to me as he knew what the arthritis was doing to me. The poor muppet is now nursing me post ankle fusion but still here even though I offered him the get out clause! I have days (most at some point!) when I feel shitty and deformed and broken. I can totally understand what you're going through. College can give you extensions if you need them for your work. What are you studying? Keep talking to your friends and find activities you can get involved in. I started swimming, got people to come to me for drinks and meals to save hassle of going out and too much walking. Just dont shut yourself away and if you feel that you may be depressed go to your GP they can refer you for counselling and/or medication of necessary. Dont let this beat you as you have it for the long haul! Hope by the time this reaches you, you're feeling brighter - new year and all that! x
