Subject: GOT ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

I AM A WOMAN OF 56 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HAD RA FOR 41 YRS. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY MY RHEUMATOLOGIST THAT I COULD HELP OTHER RA PATIENTS BY SHARING EXPERIENCES OR ANSWERING QUESTIONS. I HAVE HAD 30 SURGERIES, ALL TO DO WITH JOINT REPLACEMENTS, JOINTS REMOVED NODUALS REMOVEDAND JOINTS CLEANED OUT. I'VE HAD TWO HEART ATTACKS, A COLLAPSED LUNG, A KIDNEY INFECTION THAT GOT INTO MY BLOODSTREAM, AND HOSPITALIZED FOR HAVING TEN CRACKED RIBS AT ONE TIME. SO ANY BODY GOT ANY QUESTIONS.

Hi Dolly sorry to hear you've went through all of that! I've had 5 operations on my left foot and that's bad enough! They still can't seem to fix it though so don't know where I stand now :-( x

hi amy thanks for replying. i've had probably at least 5 operations on both feet and ended up with them [the doctors] removing the joints from my toes. see what i was told that happens with RA in your feet is you get severe inflamation in the joints and bones and without good physio therapy and a good anti-inflamatory that works your feet can deteriorate fast which mine did. so exactly what have your doctors done and whatn have they said? have you had your joints in your toes removed?

I had 3 operations to try fuse joints etc in my pinky toe and the 4th op was to remove the toe. The operation I've had just there is my 4th toe in is now basically lying on its side when I stand up on my feet which is causing me a lot of pain, the op was supposed to straighten it but weeks after the pins came out the toes just went back onto its side. I'm really at my wits end with this foot and don't think I'm going to have much luck with it! x

hi amy: i think what i would is maybe ask my doc about getting the joint from that one removed. it's the joint that would be causing alot of pain. it's a thought anyway. after i got the joints removed from my toes i dont have the pain that i used to.
