Subject: DLA TRIBUNAL

anyone have any idea how long it will take for my hearing ? applied to go to tribunal June this year not heard any thing about the date yet

It can take quite a while from what I remember. You can take an advocate with you as well - the lady from the Citizens Advice Bureau came with me as it is a rather ' official ' procedure but she was brilliant and I felt more in control with having her there with me and explaining things to me. Hi the hearing should take about 30min roughly,
give them a wee phone and ask if they have a date. The reason it takes so long is awaiting information from ie hospital reports, possible xrays. Doctors letters. Always keep all information and appointment cards for all Doctors you see. Did you get a rep to help you,if you didn't go see rep at Money Matters/citizen Advice your local council offices. It is better if you had one with you. It helps as they know what happens and they prepare you. Reps are usually there every day,week, or month.

The tribunial you attend is as relaxed and informal as possible. Usually three people sit. One could be from the Benefit office, Chairman could be a lawyer, the third person possible a Doctor. Hope this helps
