Subject: what jabs can I have when on methotrexate?

I am looking to go on a trip to Romania, and I need to have hepititis B and rabies jab. Will I be able to have them or will this react with my methotrexate?

Hi Lizzie, I think as long as its not a live vaccine you can have it. But I think I would definetly check with your doctor, just to be on the safe side. t.c.

You can't have any live vaccines.

I'm surprised you need any for Romania. I went to Czech Republic and didn't have a thing. They recommend them for all of Europe,of course, but I wouldn't have them to go to France or Spain where they also recommend them. I've never known anyone have them for Europe to be honest. I just stick to bottled water, good hygiene and keep away from strange dogs.

However, you should talk to your rheumatologist, both about the vaccines and any risk you might have to your liver if you did contract hepatitis and what they recommend.
