Sandra sometimes 2 drugs are better than one, I take mtx and I have also started a new drug Ustekinumab as well. Have you got any psoriasis on your body? Sometimes your skin can get so dry, I used aqueuse cream but I still itched but now I use Diprobase it is a little bit more oily and does help a lot. t.c.

Hi, I'm starting MTX in about 1 hour!!! I have really bad inverse psoriasis and PA. I find when I'm having a really itchy time that Cetirizine helps, although I do have urticaria as well... Maybe worth trying?

Thanks Tom, I may just give them a try... Good luck with the mtx I hope it helps, but it can take up to 12 weeks before you feel any benefit but hopefully not, its worked for some people after 3-4 weeks..T.C.

I have RA and have trouble with itchy skin mainly my arms, I also suffer from regular dry patches around my nose and chin which was diagnosed as acne rosea once then excema. I also get re-occuring round scaly patches all over my body that just come and go, I have had all this for many years well before the RA, I never knew that the skin condition was connected to the disease?? I use cortizone when it gets to bad, and am on mtx but it still comes back the same.

Thanks Lynn B, I did once mention it to the doc but he didnt think anything of it.when I feel them on my skin I usually dab some tea tree oil on and that makes them rage red and eventually they fade, the worst I have had was a cluster of them on my inside thigh they were there for ages, they dont particularly itch though. I have a cousin our mums were sisters and she was diagnosed with PA at the same time I was diagnosed with RA. I dont have any rhumatoid factor or anti ccp but they seem to think it is RA it makes you wonder doesn't it. Mind she is on the same treatment as me so I guess it doesn't matter either way well apart from the prognosis it might save me 10/15 years of life lol.?

Well you are right there Angela the treatment for RA and PA are the same, both auto immune diseases, and needing to slow the disease down. I take mtx and ustekinumab and the mtx has cleared my psoriasis up almost completely. But you know psoriasis is hereditory soz spelling, So its a wonder the rheummy didnt pick up on it, anyway I would ask for some diprobase cream which is fantastic for dry skin. Take Care. x

tramadol is a morphine based pain killer and is known for making the skin itch, like all morphine products. I used to take it for my shoulder pains until it made me start having bad mood swings, but it used to make me itch like mad. My fiancee is also on it for a fused ankle and he gets terrible itchyness and has to have cool showers to try and soothe it. Maybe combined with psoriasis, it is making the itchyness worse. Hope this helps x

sorry i may have mis-worded that, he had shattered the bone in his foot kickboxing and was told by the hospital that it was ok and walked on it for over a year. after constant pain he went to a private hospital and they done a cat scan and revealed it had been broken in 4 places and had fused, cutting off the blood to his ankle bone, and killing off some of the major bones in his foot and ankle. Hes had almost 3 years of ops and physio and has 8 screws, 6 pins and 3 plates in it and walks with a limp. His ankle has now fused and he cant move his foot at all. Hes now got arthritis in both knees and hips from over compensating when walking. Not sure if this is similar to an ankle fusion. Im a bit new to all this medical stuff xx
