I understand what you mean Toby, I went to see my Rheumy today and I was straight in and out feeling non the wiser! I've found that the nurses I see are very helpful as they make you feel more welcome and dedicate more time to you and I feel more ease asking questions.

If you don't mind me asking, what your story with RA, I'm quite new to it and I'm interested in other peoples experiences and feelings with it....I'm so glad I joined these forums cos it's relieving to speak to ppl who know how u feel :)

Oh KatKnapp ive had pains for years told by different docs that if i lost weight the pain would go. Then i got diagnosed with carpul tunnel had an operation that was unsuccessful and was discharged from neurologist. It wasnt until a family member got diagnosed with Charcot marie tooth that i was retested by the neurologist who couldnt see where then pains were coming from so i got sent to a rheaumatologist but have also been called back to the neurologist for some reason. Im not wanting much i just want to be treated normal and since i work in the same hospital a little respect would go a long way. Instead I get treated like a child to go away and drug my self up with tablets that make me feel like rubbish and doesnt even help the pain.

Hi Toby,

I think you should have made it clearer what you are asking for when you put this post up. This is a forum for people who suffer arthritis, not one for people to do their research on. Might I suggest you get out and talk to people in the flesh rather than sitting at your computer?

If you are doing proper research you can't just ask anyone what they think. You need info about demographics, what stages of treatment people are at, what ages they are etc. etc. It is sloppy research otherwise and doesn't mean anything and won't benefit anyone.

I think your research on here is a good thing Helps me to understand im not the only one who got let down by the nhs consultant. Im not the only one who is newly diagnosed and has no idea what to expect in the long term we all come from different background and are at different stages of the disease.

I am just saying that for research to have legitimacy you have to have work under clear guidelines that's all. It doesn't help us in the long run if it isn't done that way. I would hate for my future care to decided by someone who had done a bit research like this. It's important that stringent conditions to research apply. I'm not saying different opinions are not valid and it's not useful for you to read about other people's experiences. That is a totally different thing altogether and there is plenty of that to find in the posts.

Subject: Re: Rheumatoid Arthritis questions

I am a student currently studying product design. I am currently designing a hair dryer for people with arthritis and am enquiring on the website to find out if any individuals would be able to give me any information on any preferences. e.g. size, comfort, material and technology.

Thanks

Rachelle
