Hello can someone please give any advice, my grandad is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and is struggling to even get out of his chair without help. the medication from the doctors does not seem to be doing much. can anyone please suggest any alternative medicines or herbal remedies that they have experience of that may be able to relieve the pain. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. kind regards.

Has your Grandad been seen by a Rhuematologist ? If so I should explain to them how this is affecting his mobility as they may refer him to a Physiotherapist and or Occupational Therapist. If he hasn't been seen by a Rheumatologist then request to seen one through his GP.

Thanks for the reply, yeah is seeing a rheumatologist and frequents the hospital quite regularly, however i wondering if there is anything else that could help with the stiffness and pain? maybe some private treatment or herbal medicines that may help? Anything at all? Thanks again.

Don't know of any and the NHS Rhuematology should be the best route to go as ' alternatives ' are usually expensive and inferior otherwise we would all have heard of [ and been using these ] before now - I'm sure. I cope with stiffness and pain by hot and cold - ie cold fan them warm wheat bag.

Hi Raj, I agree with everything kayjay has said, alternative!! are usually very expensive The stiffness is a problem to everybody, but the heat and cold treatment is one of the best ways to go to help with swelling and pain. Take Care.

Hi Raj i have found a full body massage helps relieve stiffness and reflexology. I have heard that acupuncture helps also but not tried it.If your grandad is not feeling up to that what about going in a hot tub? He can just sit there and its warm and massages you? I hope this helps.
