Hi helend, I have had these on the back of my head I think they are arthritic nodules? They are from a pressure build up? But mention them to your rheumy.

I,too, have a small lump which has formed on the underside of my right wrist fairly recently and which causes me some pain if use my laptop for a long time. I have a larger lump on my right thumb which swelled significantly after I had been bagging up weeds in the garden in hot weather (!) earlier in the summer. I have had RA for about 14 years and the lump on the thumb has been there for maybe 4 years. This time, I decided to consult my doctor about the lump on my thumb. She said that it is common with RA to get these fairly harmless lumps which could be ganglions or arthritic nodules, as Cathy suggests. They can a) be left alone and may decrease in size or go completely b) be pierced with a needle (by a doctor!) to see if a jelly-like fluid or other comes out c)be cut out under local anaesthetic (usually) but they often return. I was referred to a consultant at the Horder Centre (a specialist centre for RA) but, by this time, the lump on my thumb had gone down and I opted to leave it as it is. The lump on my wrist isn't causing me too much trouble at present and isn't very noticeable to look at.
I hope my experiences might be of some help.
