Hi Kathryn, I have PA and one of the places I suffer pain is in my lower spine. How do you deal with it? I dont really know what to do with myself when its flared up in my back. Sitting down makes it worse, but standing makes my hip and toes worse, so the only thing I do to cope is take lots of hot baths and lay down! Do you find that sitting down makes it worse?

I was told recently that my back pain (10 months) has nothing to do with my PA. surely this can't be the case as it came on just before my knee flared up. The 3 MRI's I've had showed a disc bulge at the lowest point in my spine but no inflamation. I'm confused...

Herniated disc or Disc Bulge Tom H will cause aggravation to the root nerve if the bulge is touching it....doenst have to have Inflamation , Thank god U dont have Inflamation in your spine....Trust me a buging dics or Hernaited disc is Horrific pain in its self.....however, a bulging disc in your spine doenst mean U have PA in your soine, coincidental id say tc Jill...had major spine surgery,so know a fair bit about the back

Thanks for your comments Jill. I'm still not convinced it's not linked in some way as I have also been told a few times that the herniated disc should go within 6 months. The pain I'm having is definately from the root nerve, maybe it will just fix itself... hope so Thanks
