Subject: humira

Hi, I started humira pen injections three weeks ago and would like to chat to anyone else on the same medication. I was on leflunomide for 6 years and that has been stopped and I am still on methotrexate (7.5mg) and folic acid. I have had an amazing response and have not taken a pain killer since starting and am walking normally!! I even went for a long hour and a half walk at the weekend - something I have not done for 5 years!! I am pain free for a week immediately after the injection, and then I have noticed some stiffness returning in the few days running up to the next injection. The only side effect I have noticed is that two days after the injection I have a very uncomfortable feeling of fullness in the top half of my abdomen and am virtually unable to eat, but this passes after 5 days. I await to see if it happens again after the next injection, but wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

Hiya Im 40 and have had RA since I was 21. At the moment im on methotrexate 25mg a week they have just rang me to say they are delivering humira next Tuesday and I cant wait to start it. I have been off work for 8 weeks now and its driving me mad. I have been married for 19 years and have 2 children 16 and 13. Ive been looking on the internet for other peoples experiences of humira and yours in the most recent posted thread I have found. One lady said the injection stung her like mad but she put an icepack on for 20 minutes before and left the injection out of the fridge for 20 mins before injecting and this helped. I was delighted to read other peoples stories of the effects of humira and im so looking forward to getting my life back. Id love to hear how humira has helped you and from people in similar situations.

Hi I have been on 40mg of Humira since I was diagnosed with Psotiatic Arthritis in 2005, so far it has for the most part kept My skin clear of Psoriasis and calmed down my joints a great deal. It is like all meds how well it works depends up on how severe your condition is. For some reason my Arthritis is still very active even though I'm on 20mg of Methatrexate as well.

I have a feeling of nausea for a couple of days after taking my injections but it soon wears off. I take my injections on Fridays and generally at night before I go to bed so its the last thing I do. Make sure it is at room temperature as that reduces the stinging. I was my hands and then use a medicated gel just to be extra safe.

You may still get flare-ups that doesn't mean its not working it just a fact that flareups happen no matter how effective the medications
