Subject: Not allowd my mtx prescription!!!!
I have been having the mother of all flare ups so all this week have litterally not had a clue of the day of week and certainly havnt been able to leave the house. So as a result i forgot my to get my prescription from the doctors, so sent my partner to get it on saturday morning. The docs run a saturday surgery for those who work so when he got there he had to ring the bell at the side door and was greeted by someone with a clip board. He tried to explain the situation tgeb had to door shut on him as his name wasnt on her board he then rang the bell again and this time got off her that the prescription get locked away on the weekend (fare enough i thought). He then asked if a doctor could print another one as i need to take them on a certaib day to her saying there were no doctors in and again she shut the door. Im furious! I missed my mtx dose yesterday and obviously havnt got it today, so im 2 days late come monday. What shoukd i do, i know if you miss a day u take it as soon as poss but after 2 days is the rule the same??? Help appreciated x

i would still take it as soon as possible, your body needs it or you'll be in more and more pain. Good luck

hi Kirstine, I was told up to two days after is fine but after that just take your usual dose next time. Paul, I was told by rheumy nurse and consultant that missing one dose doesn't affect the efficacy of the mtx.

And perhaps a letter to the Surgery Manager would be in order as well !!

I think it would be ok after 2 days missed but I have also missed doses before due to a severe chest infection when my doctor told me to stop them and found no detrement. I also agree with KayJay - a letter to the Surgery Manager would be a very good idea. You should not be left like that in pain with nobody at your doctors to help you.

You should look into repeat prescription services with local pharmacies. Often they'll collect prescriptions for you so you can just collect from the pharmacy directly! :)
