Subject: Lower back pain and driving

I have quite frequent pain in my lower back that gets much worse if I sit or lie in one position for too long. Unfortunately I often have to make car journeys that are around 2 hours long plus, which makes it worse!

Beyond taking painkillers and stopping at service stations along the way, I was wondering if there's anything else I can try?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

A physio once told me to roll up a hand towel and put it in the small of your back (cross ways) when you are driving. You can buy back support rolls as well. Got mine from a now defunct Woolies!

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try! :)

When you say crossways, do you mean like perpendicular to the spine?
