Subject: Sometimes we all just need a good moan

Hey everyone

I've read quite a few posts where people have said "I'm really sorry to complain, I know most of you have it worse than me" but it seems a shame that most of us think like that 'cos when you're in a lot of pain it doesn't matter who's worse off than you - it doesn't make your pain any less.

So I thought this would be a good place for a nice selfish moan about the crappy hand we've been dealt!

I'll go first...

My PA hasn't been to bad lately but my ankle is killing me. It's really badly swollen, tight, hot and painful. I can't take anything for it 'cos I'm 23 weeks pregnant but the rheumatologist can give me a steroid injection. Only problem is, they're only available on Tuedays and Fridays and I don't have any cover at work for 3 weeks!

Also, I'm being a bridesmaid for my sister in less than 2 weeks so would really not like to have to limp down the aisle - it's bad enough that I've got a massive baby bump and a bit of a waddle.

Aaaarrrghhhhh

Aaaaaaaarrrrrghhhhhhhh Loulou, and double arghhh...I'm totally with you on that, i have OA in every joint and, the only place i dont get pain is in both knees as i've had them replaced. Have had countless steroid injections and am waiting for hips and shoulder replacements and ankles too. Some days i feel like committing harri karri, but always think, 'pull yourself together girl, there are folk worse off than you', but like you say it doesnt get rid of the pain that your in.
So there we are, i've had my moan
Hope you get sorted soon before wedding
Luv Jen xx

What a good idea lou! I'm so in need of a moan tonight and I really really apologise to Sally If she's reading this coz she got it in another thread. WELL. . . When last saw Rheumy things were pretty bad so He gave me depot steroid injection, put me on oral steroids, told me I was to go from 15mg to 20mg mtx shots and was gonna ask my neuro If I could have Infliximab/Remicade. It was left that I NEEDED to be seen 12wks later. Since then, had to go back down to 15mg coz my mouth sores were getting, infected, had to have morphine increased coz of pain and had to come off steroids coz i'm having my toe nails out. Well now i'm in ALOT ALOTA pain with lots of swelling. My apt is due 12th July but not had it through yet. Coz feeling a bit desperate called hosp today to find out when my apt is coz I feel i'm no further forward from my diagnosis last Aug, and was told i'm on a waiting list and she had no idea when I might be seen WTF! It's 1:50am, in alota pain and can hardly walk and can't take anymore morphine till 2:45am. Don't know what my next step should be? Thanks for reading all! Go well X

haha Curtis - a pre-emptive strike!

I'm totally with you Abbie - didn't sleep a wink last night 'cos I still haven't had the steroid injection into my ankle and it is agony... wish I could have some painkillers but don't think the baby in my belly will be all too pleased with that lol. I'm going to see rheumy on Tuesday - that was the earliest they were able to see me, wasn't very happy that they could fit me in and other half was ready to kick some butt. Ankle is so swollen it's bruising the skin. I'm somehow able to hobble unaided from the car to the office though so am still going in to work!

It's a shame for us!!!

Lou x
