Subject: Flare up?

OK so had my hospital appt Thurs and they think I have PA. My symptoms were fairly mild I thought. So why since then have I got worse?? I am laying in bed scared to get up incase my feet are as bad as my finger which is agony. Not been this bad before. So is it a flare up, psycological or can xrays affect it? Now I know what you guys mean by "pain".
Hope you all having a good day.

Hi Christine, Don't ever think the pain is psychological though stress can bring on a flare up, so I am told. Xrays can't affect you in that way. Are you taking anything for the pain or anti-inflammatory drugs? I don't have PA but another type of arthritis but I imagine it is similar in that you can't predict flare ups, at least I can't.

Hi Sally,
Yes I am on anti-inflammaroties - did stop for a bit as they had helped. Started again today. Hands and feet were bad when I got up but not for long actually so I was happy. Started a dairy and wheat free diet yesterday and already feel less bloated. Something I needed to do for a while now as I know dairy can flare up my psoriasis - especially cheese. Hmm I did have red wine last night and it was defo worse today - maybe I should stop the alcohol for a bit.

hi there! My mother used to say red wine made her worse so try white instead. It's a shame if a girl has to give up alcohol altogether lol!
I did a gluten free thing for a while but there was no difference at all when I started to eat it.

Do you know I actually feel better. My bloatedness seems better although the scales not shifting just yet. And think my water retention improving too. Just generally don't feel full and bloated anymore. Woke up today with my finger still hurting a little but feet feel good. Looking good so far!!

Hi Christine! I have quite bad PA and each day is a lottery as to what part of the body hurts the most so don't ever think it's psychological hun! As previously said stress can bring on a flare. On the subject of x rays, I often hurt more after, not because of the x ray itself but because of the positions they put you in and their often heavy handedness. Go well Christine XXX
