Subject: Leflunomide... Anyone on this?

My hubby is about to start Leflunomide, looking for others to see how they have got on/side effects! He has been on methotrexate, sulphasalazine (can't spell that one!) and Entercept, but all have failed!!! So back to square one, 6 years after diagnosis and treatment.

Hi Connor,

Thanks for that, have you had any side effect to the metho? Eugene (my hubby!) felt really sick on it and eventually it affected his liver!

Thanks
Susie

Hello Again,

MTX side effects ? Yes. Mouth ulcers which come and go and fatique. I take MTX on Mondays and I find that for the next 4 days I'm really very very tired to the extent that I could quite easily stay in bed.

One of the symptoms of Psoriatic Arthritis is tiredness anyway so when the MTX cuts in I feel totally washed out.

I was on 20mg of MTX, but the Rheumatologist has suggested dropping it to 17.5, then 15 and then maybe down to 10mg to try and find a dose that suits me.

The first thing she tried was Sulphasalazine, but the side effects were so bad I came off them.

So far my fortnightly blood test results are ok. Just have to see how it goes.

Hope your husband gets on ok with the leflunomine.

I have been told medically that Leflunomide is very expensive compared to methotrexate. Can you tell me why this is so? Does it treat the PA better? Less invasive - very interested.
