Subject: Newbie here (although not new to RA!)

Hi folks, stumbled upon this site & forum and thought I would join.

After some years away from medications it has all finally caught up with me and I ended up in the specialists ofice last week.

This time, they have given me a pulse steroid injection, which (so far) has been amazingly effective. I am due to start the meds next week and I am trying a combination of methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine.

Has anyone else tried these two together? Did it work for you?

Not together Jackie but I've been on the Hydroxy since March. I've had new swellings since but they say give it at least 3 months to work. Hope yours works for you.

Welcome to the forum Jackie! Sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulties again. I've been on mtx since Aug last year and personally haven't found it very good on it's own. Was due to increase for 4wks then again but because of mouth sores that plan got pulled but am waiting to hear about Remicade. I hope this regime works well for you but don't forget mtx can take up to 8months to work fully. Go well X

Thanks to you both for your welcomes.

I've been on mtx previously, on it's own and like you didn't notice much improvment. I'd go so far as to say i felt worse, so I'm looking forward to seeing how these two drugs will work together.
