Subject: new to the forum
Hi i'm new to the forum and have rheumatoid arthritis - my name is Kath Stewart and I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. I take Methotrexate at the moment and my disease is stable.
I hava a problem which I wonder if anyone can help with. I work in a large department store and am on my feet quite a lot. My main concern is my feet and lack of comfortable footwear - does anyone have any ideas on anything I can try or someone in a similar position and what has helped them. I look forward to hearing from you.

hi have you never seen a pedotrist bout insoles for your feet i have ra and its in my feet bad i can only really wear crocs which really help but i have insoles in some trainers and winter boots if really have to wear them hope thats helps

Yes Kathleen ask your Rheumatology Consultant to refer you to an Occupational Therapist and Podiatrist.

My occ. therapist recommended I tried Rieker have a couple of different pairs I use for work etc., otherwise I live in my crocs too

Hi KAthleen, I can sympathise with your shoe problem! I hated shopping for shoes because nothing would fit and everything was painful and when I did find something they would be unfeminine and clumpy. I tried Birkenstocks for a while but I couldn't get to grips with the shape of the insoles. My toes won't go in the right direction! Then Deichman opened a store in my home town and now I get all my shoes from there. They do a lovely broad fitting and they have a great range of styles. Best of all, I found a nice pair of modest sized heels which are stable and comfortable and look pretty!

Hi Kath, i'd highly recommend Hotter shoes, you'll be able to Google them. They are cushioned in all the right places, supportive and very smart but unfortunately, with them, comfort comes at a price. Good luck and keep us posted. Go well X
