Subject: Health Service Medical examination.

Hello Folks,

Have not been able to work since last summer due to Psoriatic Arthritis and have been in receipt of sickness benefit. I have applied for invalidity pension/disability pension.( Not sure of the correct title)

I have been given an appointment to see a Government health service Rheumatologist for an assessment ref my pension application. Thats all I've been told.

I imagine I would be wise to take all my medical records, X-Rays and doctors reports with me. The health system here is based on the UK's National Health Service so is run in a very similar manner.

I just wondered if anyone who has been through this procedure in the UK could advise if I have missed anything out.

Thanks & Regards to All..Connor.

Hi Connor,

Best take everything just in case.

I've only had incapacity benefit once for a year and did not even see a doctor, but if i did i would have everything to hand.

Good luck

Paul

Hello Conner,I have RA.Like you are thinking, I took everything relevent to my illness with me, and I think the interviewer found it useful.
You need to present yourself as how you would feel at your worst, so that they can get the best picture of your illnes.
It made me feel very vulnerable, and quite degraded, because like a lot of us I have pride, but it is neccesary to get the support you need.

Thanks for the replies Angela & Paul I do appreciate it.

I've sorted out older medical records, reports from when I was living in the UK. I'll take them along with me as well as recent ones since they also mention a history of Psoriasis and spinal problems.

I've heard mixed reports about these NHS bods. ie They are going to be quite amenable or it'll be like trying to get blood out of a stone.

We'll see. Thanks again for replying.

Regards to all, Connor.
