Hi Lynn!!
I came home on monday! Was only in for 4 days and 2 of those was in HDU so I was on me back lol im totally fine! Had low blood pressure, low Hb, low potassium etc but I think thats normal after an op. They thought my right leg had rotated which could have meant dislocation or fracture but after a worrying night everything was fine. It was just the epidural worked better on my right leg so it just rolled lol. The worst bit of it all was after they took my catheter out and I couldnt pee. I was so desperate and one of the HCA's on the ward was a total bitch and told me I was being neurotic. Im gonna make a formal complaint. Feeling better everyday. Very tired but as long as I have little naps im fine. Im managing to hobble without crutches today aswell so Im really pleased. Managed to get up, dressed, medicated, breakfasted on my own all in an hour so Im quite pleased with myself hehe

How are you doing?? I havent been on in a while so not sure whats goin on with everyone.

Take care xx

Well done Verity!!!! It sounds like you're making great progress. Why is it you always get a total bitch on hospital wards - they don't have to do that job if they hate it so much! I can't believe you're already able to hobble without your crutches - you must be a very determined woman. I hope the rest of your recovery period continues as well.

Best wishes
Lou x

hi Verity, glad you are back home and it went well. I used to be a nurse many years ago and it is very common for women not to be able to pee when the catheter comes out so don't know what that nurse is talking about! You are right to make a complaint.

I'm struggling along, joints not much better and can't take increased mtx as my liver results abnormal. Waiting for rheumy to come back from 6 WEEK holiday! And am also getting referral to liver specialist. But am sort of managing from day to day.

Glad you are back amongst us - have missed you hun!

Sally, I wish theyd told me about not being able to pee coz I totally panicked! All I got told was that i was being neurotic! (stupid bitch). Ive been walking round Oswestry today doin a bit of shopping. Bought myself a new bag. Well, another new bag lol. I deserve it! Gonna sleep well tonight : )

Gutted about your blood results. Will they maybe consider you for TNF now?? Have you been on any other DMARD and it fail, coz if so you should be OK to go ahead with it : ) As if anyone has a 6 week holiday! Thats ridiculaous!

Sorry youre feeling crap Lynn, I can totally understand and it makes me so so miserable : ( Keep ya chin up though (if ya can!)

I saw the nurse yesterday and she said my wounds were healing nicely. sha also said i could have a shower in a couple of days if they keep getting better! Woohoo!!!

Anyways, its tea time now : )
Take care girls : ) xxx

Hey Verity glad to hear you are okay. Long may it continue ;0)

About the pee thing. I remember when my Daughter had to have her appendix out [ she was about 8 ] and after the emergency op the nurses kept telling her to start eating - but she didn't want to [ think she didn't want to be sick like before the op]. Anyway they badgered her that much that she just had a little bit of scrambled egg and her stomach blew up like a balloon. Sally is that " normal " ? It really upset her and scared me a bit too !!

Hi Verity, glad to hear you are up and about. I'd forgotten about the peeing to be honest but you were right to be worried about it as can cause problems. As for bags - any number of bags are ok lol. I can never have enough as I never have the right one for my outfit :) or shoes.....

My rheumy sent me a rather sarcastic letter saying he didn't think I had cirrhosis of the liver. Neither did I lol! Sadly, I haven't exhausted the Dmard route yet, got quite a way to go. My joints are so variable. Over the bank holiday weekend I was rubbish but loads better today and went swimming. I've got to put the mtx up next week and see what happens. Hopefully, my liver will calm down - I've given it a good rest, no alcohol or painkillers for two weeks (ouch!) I'm also trying a gluten free diet and although my joints don't seem any better I do seem to have more energy. We'll see!

So pleased you have come through your op well.
lots of luv

Fair play Sally, youre a brave brave women! No pinkillers for 2 weeks lol Id struggle with that to be honest. What amount of MTX will you be going up to? Diets and stuff take time. How long have you been doing it now? Hang on in there it may just need longer. I found acid free most helpful : ) Im on pregabalin and the chemist I think has mucked up my prescription so Ive been on double the dose. Ive felt totally wrecked and only realised today after quite a few days of taking them lol i think its since Ive started mixing them with dihydracodeine and paracetamol. Sends my head west!

Got me a sofa today. Hopefully a bit more supportive than the one we have now. When youre sitting on it you may aswell be lying down lol Got me hair cut and bought bits n pieces. Treated myself : ) Im skint now tho lol

Its late (2am) so i need to go to bed
Night night xx

I am struggling lol! I'm interested in your acid free diet - will have a look online but is it a particular one? Just ate some gooseberries so will see what happens. I'm not convinced by the gluten free but managed to stick on it for 2 weeks. Will introduce some gluten in another few days and see if it makes a different.

New sofa sounds good! Sounds like you are feeling pretty up which is great.

Have a look for Margaret Hills. Her daughter and grand daughter run her clinic. Very very intense but it can work for some : ) i dont do it anymore but still try and eat as little acidic foods as poss. i find I flare up if I have too much cheese, lemons etc i havent eaten tomato for at least 7 yrs now. makes me flare almost instantly. not good.

How have you been feeling today Sally? Any better? xx
