I would NEVER EVVER EVER go abroad for surgery. The NHS provides a perfectly good service. Ive just had bi-lateral THR in Gobowen and it was 5* treatment : ) xx

I don't think I would ever risk going abroad - it's not so much having the operation that would concern me, it's the after care, especially if something went wrong. I had my first hip replacement 9 years ago aged 21 and it went swimmingly but had the 2nd hip replaced a year later and needed much more ongoing treatment! The NHS do an amazing job and, I think because of your age, you would not need to wait too long to have the operations. Lou x

I wouldn't go abroad either. Like Jill says, the travelling alone would put me off. If you've ever had an operation you would know that you wouldn't want to travel for a good two weeks after - more if you had hip surgery I imagine. My aunt wouldn't even get on a train until her six weeks recovery time was up.
