Subject: torn cartalige

I am a sero negative rheumatoid suffer which has now spread to most parts of my body. I have been experiencing pain in my right knee for about a year. I saw specialist at RA clinic last friday for results of my MRA scan, it turns out I also have osteoarthritis in the knee and a torn cartalidge. Specialist states I need an operation to repair damage. Can anyone please tell me what the operation consists of and what to expect, also will it solve the pain I am currently in????

Hi I have rheumatoid. I have aches and pains which flit about all over my body. Can you tell me what does the "sero negative" mean? Sorry I can't help with the question about your knee op. The surgeon must think it will help though, or he wouldn't do it surely. Best wishes L

Lyra - I also have sero-negative RA. This means that The Rheumatoid Factor result is negative in blood results. Most people who have RA have a positive RF result.
