Subject: Need a bit of help and advice

My mum has been suffering with rheumatoid and osteoarthritis for the past 25 years and six weeks ago she had to have an fixation operation on her neck. She had plates fitted in the back of her head and her neck fused. Since the operation she cannot do anything for herself, she feels as though it has made her worse that the plates in her neck are too heavy and her arthrits has become worse.

Has anybody heard or had a fixation operation as i could really do with some advice for my mum as she is in really a lot of pain.

thanks.

Sorry Charlotte I've not heard of this. I should contact the surgeon who did the op and report her condition. Good Luck ;0)

Hi Charlotte, I'm sorry I don't have any experience of this but think some of the others on the forum might do. However, six weeks is not very long after that type of op and her recovery may well take longer. When I had some surgery a few years ago it took me much, much longer to recover than they told me. KayJay's advice is good, the surgeon should know how she is getting on, there maybe something they can do.
Best of luck.
xx

Hi charlotte! As the others I've not had one of these ops. I would also say to contact the surgeon asap. If you're unable to get through or can't see him for a few days make an urgent apt with the GP who maybe able to speak to him and also prescribe some stronger pain relief. I hope she gets some answers and relief soon hun. Go well and keep us posted X
