That happens to me too. I have it with my ankles and my knees but am usually able to use the other leg to stop me falling. I think I should get the old walking sticks out again just for a bit of extra stability but it's horrid having to use them. I suppose I'll just have to "pretty them up a bit" and learn to love them again!!! I don't know why it keeps happening, only that it is because of the arthritis (never happened when I was on the enbrel and the arthur was under control). It may be weak tendons or something? Just another thing to add to the list of symptoms that no-one really considers until they happen :(

Lynn + LouLou I have Arthritis damage of the left ankle. This has been getting gradually worse for about 2 years then I noticed a bone sticking up near the ankle. The GP sent me to see an Orthopedic Surgeon had an xray and he said it was probably due to an injury even years ago and the bone had grown a " spur " [ which was the bony lump I can feel]. Apparently I would have fractured the ankle but it was missed on the xray years ago !! I did fall about 25 years ago when my foot just swelled up but I went to the a+e and they just strapped it and said it was a sprain !! Fast forward to now and that mis diagnosis has resulted in me having to walk with a stick and wearing an ankle brace/boot all the time. I can't bend my left foot to walk , it's just rigid now. The Ortho surgeon is not willing to fuse the ankle because of my recent diagnosis of RA.

I would defo get a referral to an Orthopedic Surgeon via your GP. That's the only way I got anywhere with mine. Good Luck ;0)

Hey Lynn, my hips do that a lot at the mo. So so painful. Its down to the arthritis damage, but the hosp are gonna whip em out in a week or so. Woo! lol

With regards to bone spurs, my right elbow is totally fused at a 90 degree angle coz of loads of extra bone in it. Havent had xrays for a fair few yrs but you can actually feel the extra bone now. Also, my right hand, I have a bone spur on one of my hand bones (not the finger bones, dunno what theyre called! lol). I can feel it pokin out if a touch it. Feels orrible. Anyone else got any??

xx

Yes Verity good luck with the OP ;0)

The only spur I've got is near my left ankle - it's quite big and stop's me bending my foot. I have noticed my middle finger joints seem to have got thicker in the joint/bone part? will ask the Rhuemie about that when I see them next.
