Subject: Re: what can i eat?
hi linda, have a try at a diet based mainly on fish(particularly oily fish - mackerel, herring, fresh tuna and salmon) vegetables and rice while avoiding too much red meat, fried food and booze! salads and green vegetables are good. avoid strong coffee as it is very acidic. i know a lot of people today believe in avoiding dairy and wheat but i reckon this is fashionable as opposed to correct! we need the calcium in dairy. there is a difference between something which you perhaps do not digest well and being allergic to something. the best thing really is to choose carefully from a variety of fresh food and keep a note of anything which you find upsets you or which you feel you have difficulty digesting. we are all individuals when it comes to this. i should tell you i have had rheumatoid arthritis for over 10 years during which time i have tried all sorts of things and am convinced that a sensible diet as outlined above helps to keep me reasonably well. personally i reckon that i avoid pasta and pizza, also pork and lamb, but this is after a long while of watching how i feel so as i said try and judge what affects you over time and resist being fanatical about anything life is tough enough and you dont need the stress! good luck with it.
