Subject: Severe Rash with Sulfasalazine
Hi Guys! I've not posted on here before but saw from some of the other posts that some of you had had reactions (rashes in particular) with sulfasalazine. Now dont worry my GP knows all about my head to toe rash etc and I am taking steroids and antihistamines. Day three of steroids but although it is a bit better it's not clearing up fast. While its a bit better in some places I now have it in my mouth and soles of feet (yeah lovely :0X) I only have another two days of steroids... (last day Saturday). I'm worried in case I break out again badly on sunday (No GP to call!) Anyway I guess what I want to know is how long did this awful rash take to go away for you? Thanks Esther

I came off sulfasalazine after 1 day of taking it along with 20mg MTX. I became very sick and dizzy. Never had a rash though but it is a side effect of the drug. It would be best letting your Rheumy Doctor know that you have a reaction and they may take you off it and give you something else. Hope you get better soon, regards Paul

Sorry Guys Just to be clear I stopped the sulfasalazine as soon as I had a reaction (11 days ago now. It also lowered my white blood count and inflamed my liver). How long did your rash take to stop itching and go away? It's driving me crazy and demented! YOW!
