Subject: Totally fed up

Ive not been on for a while but am in need of a ruddy good moan. I have RA am on MTX, daily neproxin tramadol and paracetamol. Im in the beginnings of a flare and the heat comming from me is unreal, its now so bad that i only managed to get a grand total of an hour sleep last night as i just couldnt get comfortable and went way past the point of being tired. Everything hurts my knees, elbows, hands, feet shoulders... Everything!!! Im feeling like a compleat and utter pratt as i am slowly not being able to do stuff like fasten up a babygrow or anything that involves even a tiny bit of dexterity as my hands are so puffy i just cant do it and its sooooo frusterating! Ive had a fantastic couple of weeks and them bam im back like this again! Gggrrrrrrr!
For all ive had no sleep i cant even relax enough to doze. I think i need stronger pajn killers but dont know what the next step from tramadol would be!
Oh ok i will go for now, thankyou for the opportunity to vent, hope everyone it ok x

I think the next step from Tramadol is morphine unfortunately. I in the same situation with painkillers. I refuse to go on morphine coz theres not much turning back after that lol How much Tram do you take a day? Maybe you could increase the dose?

Hey Kirstine, I totally understand how you're feeling; I'm having one of those days too and by the time I'd hobbled into the polling station I burst into tears - felt soooooo stupid.

I've been struggling with my knee for ages, it's so swollen and painful that I cannot lay comfortably at night time and not getting very good sleep and enter the vicious circle of not sleeping making my arthur worse! I'm struggling with my hands too - I'm finding it difficult to pull me knickers up so what with finding it difficult to lower myself onto and off the loo and that I'm feeling pretty useless!!!

I suppose we must take comfort in the fact that they are flare ups and will get better soon but when you're sat on the edge of the bed trying to muster up the effort to stand up it all seems a bit much.

Chin up hun xxx

Hey louloubelle, I know how your feeling. Its so depressing when going to the toilet is such hard work! Im terrible for drinking very little so I dont have to make extra trips to the loo but that means I get UTIs etc. Its not good is it. Hang on in there, you'll feel a bit better soon xx

Hi Kirstine! I've recently been in your situation. I've had my mtx shots increased, another depot steroid injection and oral steroids and this is helping maybe contact your Rheumy to see If this could be an option for you too. I was on 100mg Tramadol x4 daily and 20/1000mg Co Dydramol x4 a day but am now on morphine. Maybe you could introduce Co Dydramol with ur Tramadol it is good. Also my Rheumy is consulting with my Neurologist about putting me on Infliximab/Remicade so maybe an anti TNF would be an option for you also. Defo call your Rheumy nurse or dr or your GP. Good luck and keep us posted. Go well XXX
