Subject: felt a bit sad

Was watching Britians got talent last night with my 8 year old son and he was complaining that his legs were hurting, and i said it's just growing pains to which he replied i think i caught what you got mommy (RA) i then went on to explain you can't catch it etc.. and that i can't get better from it but medcines help me. THen he looked at me ever so serious and said that means you can never ride a bike with me ever again :``( It really touched a nerve and made me realise how much i can't do with my boys anymore. Sorry thought i would share it with others who understand.

Does anyone else have young kids and how do you cope doing activities with them ??

AHHHHH Amelia I'm so sad to read this. It is very surprising however how little ones seem to adapt to any situation. They are sure to luv Mummy so much that it won't be a problem to them.

Oh Amelia, I can see why you felt sad. It would do the same to me. I dont have kids but I can imagine how tough it must be with RA. Dont forget there are still plenty of things that you CAN do with them : )

Take care xx

Hi Amelia,

Reading your post was like listening to myself sometimes with my son. I always feel guilty about things I can no longer do with him or have never been able to do with him. I have just had a hip replacement due to my RA and am due to have the other done as soon as I ca fit it in to my busy life.

I have found that my son is a really caring sensitive boy due to my condition and this can only be a good thing. He also now understands that there are some alot of things I cacnt do with him but there are alos alot that I can. You have to try and think of ways to and other options to do just that. We play board games and read a well as watch dvds together.

I know its really hard (my son is 8 toBut honestly your childrn will know you love thm and want to do things with them nd thats all that matters so please try not to feel guilty. You sound like your a great mum x
