Subject: FMS & RA
Just wondering if its possible to have both? Ive been speaking to a friend who has fms and was telling her about my symptoms and she thinks ive got both. I initialy went to the docs with extreame weakness, tiredness and pain in my arms, legs shoulders. After blood tests it revealed a positive RF and CRP ect so rummy atarted me on MTX and other things. Im on 20mg mtx and my joints re becomming less painful but my muscles are still increadible sore. Ive akways had headaches so cant say thats the mtx. Went and saw rummy about the waekness and saw a student who simply said the weakness is the ra, not mtx. Im just so frusterated as my memory is also becomming horrendous and cant gt my words out most of the time. Should i push the rummy tk investigate further? His only examination was of my hands and feet, he wasnt interested in anything else! Sorry for rambleing

Hi Kristine, Your rhymmny shouls have checked u all over....plus ya dont want to listen to students/ sorrry if any sturdent rhummys in here, but ive had conflicting stuff said to me...I will always go to 'The Main Man' Kristine.im being ignorant, but what is FMS? fatigue makes us feel weak, i get that, goes along with the condition apparently, and the MTX makes us feel rotten, so that doesnt help either, I wld defffo push your rhummy for better investigations of you....let us know what happens Jill x

Your not being ignorant lol FMS is fibromyalgia syndrome. Its lumped together in the arthritis category but doesnt cause inflamation or joint damage, just pain in muscles.

Kirstine YES I have both Fybromyalgia and RA. Started with Fibro about 2 years ago it was the same old thing had to go to the GP's for ages before she diagnosed it. She put me on Amytriptiline to help me sleep and painful neck. Was diagnosed with RA a couple of months ago. Sometimes with Fibro you feel as though you are so stiff you can't move with extreme tiredness. However I'm starting to think that Fibro may be early RA ? Dunno just a thought.

i have friend KJ that was diagnosed with Fibro, she is soooooooo fatigued...seems similar to artha, but xrays show NO damage, and she has had it years...so guess they have her diagnosis correct...Remember tho, R.A. any of the Arthas, cause fatigue, or tiredness, and the meds do too...I also get Tendon pain, muscle spasm, aswell as painful joints...what a pain in the Butt Huh? lol I even get that too!!!!!

Hey Jill yes I think it's hard to separate the 2 - Fibro/RA as regards the tiredness but they found synovitis through the scans. Could have told them actually something was wrong what with the pain and swelling in the fingers aka " sausage " fingers !! I've also got Diabetes and that can make you tired as well - it's no good I'll just have to kip all time ;0) Yeah have had pain the butt as well - piles / and prolapse bowel.Had the injections for them and fingers crossed not much problems now.
