Subject: Sulfasalazine & Methotrexat combination
Hi all, Was seen yesterday by my Rheumy, we are looking at me going on to anti-tnf soon (6 weeks time), but she has asked me to start taking a Sulfasalazine & Methotrexate combi for the next 6 weeks until i see her again. I'm being investigated for not stop heartburn at the moment hence the delay. I took both medications last night at 8'ish and within 3 hours i was rushing to the toliet to be sick and almost fainted, when i got up this morning at 6 for my commute to London, i was sick again and felt ready to collapse, so went back to bed. Has anyone taken the same combi before and how did you find it?
I've been on both separately before but not together.

oh paul thats awful, so sorry, i should be starting anti-tnf soon also, my rheumy hasnt mentioned me going onto sulfa and metho together but ive been on them seperatly though like you, it could be that they where to stong for you together, sorry im not more help, hope you feel better soon

yes i was on both....mTX first, then sulpha for 6 months, hated it, made me ill... came offf sulpha, much better, then went on Enbrel....perfect comcined....good luck Paul...and Paul may I ask about your wife? is all still OK? Jill

hello Paul,
I take sulfasalizine and mtx and have no problems at all.
I always take mtx on monday night and I take sulf 1 four times a day, I couldnt stomach them taken in two,s.

was told this morning to stop taking he sulfasalizine, looks like my body does not like taking the 2 drugs.. and my symptoms were like an overdose.
