Subject: How quickley does R.A progress?

Hi all I posted a few days ago asking about exercise. Still waiting for blood results, I was first at the gp's 2 weeks ago regarding my knees, I have had pain in them for about 3 years but the last 6 months has got a lot worse. The GP asked me a lot of questions about the pain, and also asked if I had pain in any other joints, which at the time I didn't. But over the last few days I have had a ache/cramp like pain in both of my index and middle fingers. Dont know how quikley that R.A can progress, can flair up's jump from place to place? I have mentioned this to my hubby and I think he thinks it's all in my head, but I know something isn't right...is it?

Hi Nicey! Progression is very individual I think. Some ppl are really slow, unfortunately I was quite fast (apparently) and am having my hips replaced soon, fingers are deformed, unable to do much for myself to be honest. The majority of the bone deformity has happened in the last 9 yrs (am 24 now, last xrays were when i was 15). That may sound scary, but I was on very little medication, only anti inflams, for the duration. Hopefully if you can get a diagnosis soon you can get onto the drugs that slow down the disease asap. Dont worry though, coz theres not a lot you can do until you see rheummy anyway. Everyones different.

Hope youre ok! xx

I went from having achy ankles and knees to being unable to walk in a matter of weeks. I think this might be a bit unusual but it can vary for individual to individual as Verity says.
