Subject: RA Help

Hi I have taken an interest in the treatment of RA since my daughther was diagnosed after having her first baby in 2007. How common it seems to be to start with this awful condition after childbirth. Through visiting a naturopath and food elimination she is now virtually pain free. In fact since dropping the Sulfasalazine is even better.

On my search form alternative treatments I stumbled upon Low Dose Naltrexone and I beg you all to google this and do your own research. Dr. Chris Steele is on YouTube singing the praises of this out of patent drug originally used for drug addicts in very large doses. LDN works on ALL autoimmune diseases, particularly MS. It works on cancer too as you can see on YouTube. Visit www.ldnnow.co.uk www.ldnresearchtrust.org www.ldndatabase.com and many others. Visit the Yahoo Groups for LDN and RA and see how others are benefitting.

Hi Maggie,
I have read about this and another antibiotic therapy, and they both sound real good but the problem always is trying to get the medication prescribed. I sent the information to my rhummy but he wouldn't entertain it because he has a set protocol for meds.I have heard the same from others to, until its tried and tested in this country for so many years they wont budge.
Course the other way of looking at it, is the pharmacutical companies wouldn't bother trying and testing out such a cheap drug for RA anyway,it wouldn't be worth their while, when they can sell biologics for thousands. Not a nice way to think hey but true I bet you.

Am I alone in finding the number of posts on here about alternative treatments disturbing? Why would anybody pay any attention to someone on Youtube? Any of us could call ourselves a doctor and make a video. I, for one, would not be willing to take medication that has not been tried and tested. Even when it is tried and tested there are problems/side effects/failure rates. My consultant is involved in research in conjunction with organisations such as ARC and I am sure they consider all these alternative 'treatments.' I consider him to be extremely well informed and if he doesn't think these alternatives either work or are safe then I'm inclined to believe him.

I am not stupid and neither are most of us on here. However, we are all ill and I think it is despicable to keep on telling us that we could be doing something other than what we are in order to make ourselves well. It's becoming boring quite frankly.

Ditto..... agree totally Sally, I dreaded even contemplating MTX, thinking it as the miracle drug, and then had to go on Enbrel, I had nitemaresd about going on these toxic meds, like we all do, and to hear stuff like the First post by Maggie doesnt give me any hope at all, if im honest frankly, ...Y? others might say....becos exactly what Sally said!!! and that enuff said!!!

ps....I also think that people that have 'Miraculously Recovered form their'Arthritis', maybe they Never had it in the first place, so they decide to try an altnernative, and BINGO, their new found Miracle 'Trendy' alternative Herbal type, no doubt frigging Organic Therapy drug Works for them....beocs they Never had it in the first blidddy place!!!!! it can take months if not years sometimes to get a diagnosis, and i reckon they r the ones that try out their new fun drug and feel great, simply becos all they had was a pain here and there, and the biggest pain in my ass is them telling us to go and look at their website...also I dont care if it was the queen, and regards Chris steeel, he doenst even have the insidious disease, and he GOT PAID for that ad, what does he care, he knows the Sensible ones among us have No choice but take the meds from our specialist, that have studied the disease for donkeys years, and if they thort that studying in this specialised field was a loada Claptrap, and a con and Killing people, then we have ahell of a lot of Nasty evil minded rhumatologists on this planet, and that I do NOT beleive for a second, ....poo im rambling, but at least I know what im saying!! Its a rotten position we r in, and we dont need to hear the poo that ppl say about Miracle cures, i think they get a Fee from the conmen that get them to type the 'GO LOOK AT THIS SITE', and probably go into every damm illness out there and say the same for all different diseases!! its probably a Work at Home for a 100 quid a month if u go into a Hundred different Illness forums taht exist!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr......Off my soapbox now!

I agree with Sally, and Jill.. But my father has RA, as I do also.. and we both find the medication harsh, my dad got Lupus form the meds to help with his RA, sad but true.. This meds are bad .. but This all we have to help us.. i been on 3 kinds of drungs to tried to claim this down, and my body rejects them.. I had my lung, and liver, and ect.. effected by these meds.. i wish they would come up with something that would really help us.. But the truth the be know, its won't ...

Verity, I don't know whether you've been had or not but I'm just an old cynic!

Brenda, sorry to hear you're going through it with the RA. I know there is tons of research going on but of course it is slow and frustrating for us.

Verity, I'm sure you are doing everything you can. I am really anti the view that we could all do so much more to make ourselves well. I bet you've done all you can, know I have, yet there is always this sneaking suspicion we haven't tried hard enough.

Enough of blaming ourselves, not our fault, end of story :) Just by coming on here we're doing a lot to help ourselves. Loads of people don't bother to find out info, make friends, support one another. I think it's a hugely helpful thing.
