Subject: Problems with diet?...

Hi guys and gals, I have been looking at my mum who has just had a knee replacement at 59 and myself who has just recently been told I have arthritis in my feet at age 35, then I look at my Gran who is Italian and has just celebrated her 80th in Rome! She has never had any joint pains and is fit as a fiddle. This makes me wonder - is arthritis caused by our diet?. What kind of problems are you guys experiencing and are there any foods anyone has noticed that makes sny difference good or bad, never know - we may be able to help each other understand a bit more about this.... Hope everyone is doing OK, still freezing here but I hear Spring is coming!...

Hi Jill, hope you are good, I am in Glasgow, Scotland so should be used to the cold! They didn't say what type of arthritis I had, just that I had it in my feet and then gave me insoles!. My mum says I should get my doc to refer me for an X ray to confirm but when I sked they said they didn't want to expose me to unnesesary radiation - just wear the insoles!? I have to go back at then end of Feb but think that is just to see how I am getting on with the insoles -we'll see what they say but do you think I should get the Xray? Or at least find out what kind, didn't really realise there were different types - My toes freeze up and start burning, a wierd pain that can't be described, all I know is I don't have much hope for all my lovely heels!!! Will let you know what they say anyway, thanks for the info - take care and talk soon, Suzie

Hi Suzie, my mums side r from scotland, i went to school in west calder, outside edinburgh, only for a while tho, stayed with relatives, but missed my parents far too much, i came bk after 6 months,, iwas only 14.....love scotland, altho i was born in england, my roots r in scotland, and i defdo feel scottish.....ok re the xrays, they always say that about radiation, fobbing u off a bit I think, in 2002, 6 months after i got out of hospital, was ill due to Reiters disease, now R.A.? inflamatory arthritis, anyway, I had 16 xrays all at same time, head to foot, every joint, so for U to have just one xray is nowt!...the xray will show if there is any damage happening to your feet, and yes there r over 300 diff types of arth, however, the most common are Osteo, R.A. and inflam artha, and P.O. artha.....i have it in my feet, altho they r ok at mo....so i wld def want to know what is happening, after all, it is your Body..and u r entitled to know everything.....take ya mu m or clsoe friend with u when u go.....makes a difference...good luck and let me know ok...Jill x
