Subject: Vitamin D deficiency?

Hi all - I'm relatively new here and as yet, not officially diagnosed, just suspected, but have had symptoms for 11+ years. FINALLY had my first appt with rheumy today - to be told she thinks it's Vitamin D deficiency? She IS doing a bone scan as well, but I just thought I'd ask if this is a standard run-of-the-mill process of elimination that they do first off, or if it's not? Needless to say, I was surprised and confused - I had no idea that a Vit D deficiency could cause similar symptoms, although because mine flares up, comes and goes, and has gone when I've been pregnant, I'm still doubtful that it may be this - although the thought of being able to make this go away is a really really good one!!! Any help grateful! Hope you're all good and not in too much pain! x

Thanks Jill! I actually meant it the other way around - that I'm doubtful that it's a vit d deficiency because I always seem to have gone 'into remission' when pg, but I guess we'll see. My hubby-to-be reckons they're eliminating the simpler possibilities - which is logical. Felt v frustrated though that the quack hadn't looked at my x-ray, and was quite dismissive about the pain. I gave her a full list of symptoms (2 1/2 typed pages) and she did this weird eye-strip test where she put strips of some paper into my eye-lids for about 5 mins. She also did a phys exam - but I suppose we'll see. I was just expecting to have some kind of resolution, not a full diagnosis, but something a bit more reassuring. Anyway, knackered now, so off to have a kip.
Thanks again - take care x

Hi guys, I had those paper strips in my eyelids when I was younger. It was sommet to do with the sjogrens syndrome i think (swelling behind the eyes) They did it wrong tho and ended up giving me paper cuts on my eye balls. Then went and squirted this incredibly stingy yellow stuff in them. Sadists!
